Anyone who grew up in the 50's 60's in Dayton probably ate a BBQ sandwhich at the mezzanine cafe at the downtown Rike's store. Does any one have the recipe? Please share SKH62

Rike's Barbecue Recipe

20# ground beef
32 oz. bottle catsup
3 (46 oz.) cans tomato juice
1 cup vinegar
1-1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. mustard
1 c. Worcestershire Sauce
4 large onions, chopped
4 green peppers, chopped
8 ribs celery, chopped
3 Tbsp. salt
3 Tbsp. pepper
2 c. Quick Mother's Oats (if needed)
Brown meat and drain grease. Combine all ingredients, except the Oatmeal, and cook on medium-low for 2 hours. If too juicy, add oatmeal to give more body. Cook 5 minutes more.
You'll have to cut the recipe down! My mom worked for Rike's and always made this for Boy Scout camp and their festivals and for our Church Bazaar. Enjoy!

ummm, cj: is that American yellow mustard or dry powdered mustard? There's a huge difference.
